THE HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY REGIMENT
The Regiment returns from a much deserved period of leave, having had a most successful firing period at Castlemartin in Pembrokeshire, to start the autumn training period. Meanwhile C Squadron remain on duty in the Balkans, working alongside the Welsh Guards. In addition, the troop that deployed to Northern Ireland has returned safely.
September will be another busy month. The Regiment will deploy to Salisbury Plain in order to work towards troop tests. This period will last one week. The next two weeks will be spent in the Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (CATT). This is an opportunity for the Regiment to practice many battlefield skills in the simulator. HCR will be the second major unit to use this facility, and the first Formation Recce regiment. It is also hoped that a number of sporting fixtures will take place over this period.
The last week of the month will be spent on troop tests followed by a short regimental exercise. It is expected that there will be intense competition for scoring the highest and therefore being considered the best troop.
